Cubs’ Ian Happ wins third straight Gold Glove - Yahoo Sports
CHICAGO – Chicago Cubs left fielder Ian Happ has been named a 2024 National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner at left field.
This is the third straight Gold Glove Happ has won, becoming the first Cubs outfielder to win three straight Gold Glove Awards.
Among MLB left fielders this season, Happ was tied for the lead with 11 outfield assists. He also led the National League with eight defensive runs saved.
Happ posted a fielding percentage of .997 in 2024, the second highest in the majors behind Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Happ also played in 144 games, fifth most in the National League.
Since the beginning of the 2022 season, Happ leads all MLB left fielders with 31 outfield assists and ranks second in MLB with 23 defensive runs saved. He also leads all left fielders with 445 games played, 3,280 innings played at the position, and 834 putouts. while having committed the fourth-fewest errors – seven – in that span.
Happ is the fourth Cubs outfielder to win a Gold Glove, joining Jason Heyward in 2016 and 2017, Bob Dernier in 1984 and Andre Dawson in 1987 and 1988.
The previous Cub to win three straight Gold Gloves was first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who did so from 2018-2020.

Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux won three consecutive Gold Gloves twice during his tenure on the North Side from 1990-1992 and from 2004-2006.
Mark Grace won four straight Gold Gloves at first base from 1992-1996, while Ryne Sandberg holds the team record of nine straight Gold Gloves at second base from 1983-1991.
The Cubs drafted Happ ninth overall in the 2015 Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He joins Kevin Youkilis as the only players from Cincinnati to receive a Gold Glove.
Youkilis won a Gold Glove in 2007 when he was a first baseman for the Boston Red Sox.
