What Pros Wear: Mike Trout's Rawlings Pro Preferred PROSMT27RT Glove (2023)
Mike Trout stepped out in 2023 rocking a gorgeous Rawlings Pro Preferred 12.75" P-PROSMT27RT, a modified version of Rawlings’ classic PRO601 fastback trap-eze model. Rawlings has a Mike Trout game model available here for $375.95 Here's a rundown on some of the features that differentiate it from the original 601 models, and what features they didn't make available to the public.
Trout's gamer features a black leather fastback with red laces, trim, banding, palm stamping, and special embroidery. Trout also opts to have 5" laces on the pinky, thumb, and web versus the standard 3" laces in those areas. The most interesting feature that the perennial MVP candidate decided to add this year is an entirely closed fastback, whereas in prior years he had an index finger hole with a finger pad which is still used in the design for the MT27RT on the Rawlings website. He also ditched the camo mesh on the trim this year, returning to an all-leather model.
Finally, let's take a peek at the special embroidery. He added embroidery on the thumb, ring finger, and where the logo on the thumb usually is. For starters, rather than just having his name in script on the thumb, Rawlings embroidered Trout's actual signature on the glove. Next to that, he opted to have his number embroidered rather than a Rawlings logo. Finally, he has either "B. A. J." or "B. A. T." in the script on the ring finger.
If you want a glove designed down to the tee (except the closed back), it is available here on the Rawlings Custom Pro Shop for $499.95.
Will the longer laces make the web bigger?
